FOOD
Mongolian most common meat is mutton, supplemented in the desert south by camel meat, and in the northern mountains by beef (including yak). Dairy products are made from mare's milk (Airag), from cattle, yaks, and camels (e.g. clotted cream). Popular dishes include buuz (a type of meat dumpling), khuushuur (a meat pastry), khorkhog (a meat stew, usually a special meal for guests), and boortsog (a sweet biscuit).
ACCOMODATION
Ger camp
A ger camp is a ‘countryside hotel’ with each single, couple or family in their own comfortable, stove lit, traditional ger. Ger camps have often Ger restaurant where meals are served with Mongolian traditional food.
Most of the camps have fully equipped sanitary facilities in conformity with the international tourist service standard such as hot showers are available at certain times of the day.
Gers provide memorable taste of Mongolian culture (nomadic lifestyle). Most visitors find their stays at ger camps to be among their most enjoyable experiences in Mongolia.
Nomads stay
Have a taste of nomad life as you live with local families in their guest gers. Experience a true homestay, as a member of the family, sharing meals with the family, and can join in with as much or as little as you like. You’ll be able to help with the family’s daily tasks of milking the animals, collecting wood & dung for the fire. You can stay alongside nomads but still have your own space in your own private ger with a comfortable bed.
